GE Aerospace to Invest Up to $300 Million to Expand Engine Repair Operations in Singapore | aviationbizz.com
GE Aerospace is set to invest up to $300 million to enhance its aircraft engine repair capabilities in Singapore. The multi-year initiative, announced on Wednesday, is supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB).
The project, which will run through 2029, aims to accelerate engine repair turnaround times, particularly for CFM Leap-1A/1B turbofans used on narrowbody airliners. The investment will fund advanced technologies, including automation, digitization, and AI-powered inspection systems, to improve efficiency and precision.
Planned upgrades include module repair capabilities for Leap-1A/1B high-pressure turbines, an expanded engine component portfolio, REACH-compliant coatings, and the establishment of an AI Center of Excellence to advance maintenance, repair, and on-wing support services.
Additionally, GE and the EDB signed a memorandum of understanding to further develop advanced repair capabilities in Singapore.
