Pillai University in Navi Mumbai has inaugurated its new Aviation Experience Center, aimed at providing students with hands-on exposure to the aviation industry and preparing them for careers in the sector. The facility was inaugurated by Capt. B.V.J.K. Sharma, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA).
The Aviation Experience Center is designed to complement classroom learning with practical training, enabling students to gain a better understanding of aviation operations and industry practices. The university said the initiative will help aspiring aviation professionals develop the skills and knowledge required to meet the evolving demands of the sector.
Addressing the gathering, Capt. Sharma highlighted the rapid growth of India’s aviation industry and the increasing demand for skilled professionals. He encouraged students to take advantage of experiential learning opportunities to build successful careers and commended Pillai University for establishing the center to strengthen aviation education.
Following the inauguration, Capt. Sharma participated in Launchpad 2026, an industry orientation programme organised by the School of Business for first-year undergraduate students. The event introduced students to emerging career opportunities and current industry trends through interactions with leading professionals.
The programme also featured sessions by Dr. Samir Karkhanis, CEO of Yangpoo University Partners, Amit Naik, Director at Deloitte India, and Fenil Vadakken, Chief Growth and Strategy Officer for Emerging Markets at the Institute of Analytics, United Kingdom, who shared insights on industry expectations, future skills, and career development.
