Thai Airways Revamps Premium Travel Experience with New Business Class Cabins
Thai Airways to Introduce New Business Class Cabins Across Boeing 777, 787 and A350 Fleet
Thai Airways is set to undertake one of the most extensive cabin modernization programs in its history, introducing a new-generation business class product across its long-haul fleet from 2027. The initiative is aimed at creating a more consistent and premium travel experience while enhancing operational efficiency.
The Bangkok-based carrier currently operates a diverse mix of Boeing 777-300ERs, Boeing 787 Dreamliners and Airbus A350-900s, featuring different cabin layouts and seating configurations. To standardize its premium offering, Thai Airways will begin retrofitting its Boeing 777-300ER fleet with completely redesigned interiors starting in mid-2027.
At the same time, newly delivered Boeing 787-9 and Boeing 787-10 aircraft will enter service equipped with the airline’s latest business class cabin from the outset. The modernization program will later expand to the Airbus A350-900 fleet beginning in 2028.
As part of the overhaul, Thai Airways plans to phase out its traditional first-class cabins, reflecting a broader trend within the global aviation industry. In its place, the airline will introduce a premium “Business Class Plus” concept, while also adding premium economy cabins across the upgraded aircraft.
A key highlight of the transformation is the adoption of the Thompson Aero VantageNOVA seat platform for Royal Silk Business Class. The advanced reverse-herringbone seat design will provide direct aisle access for every passenger in a 1-2-1 configuration, ensuring greater comfort, privacy and convenience.
The new seats will feature sliding privacy doors, a premium amenity increasingly offered by leading international airlines. In addition, a dedicated “Business Class Plus” section at the front of the cabin will offer extra privacy and space for travelers seeking a more exclusive experience.
Beyond seating enhancements, passengers can expect improvements in onboard technology, connectivity and overall cabin comfort. Combined with Thai Airways’ renowned hospitality and service standards, the upgraded cabins are expected to significantly elevate the airline’s premium travel offering.
The rollout, scheduled to begin in mid-2027, represents more than a cabin upgrade. It reflects Thai Airways’ broader strategy to modernize its fleet, strengthen its competitive position and establish a unified premium identity across its long-haul network.
