Saudi low-cost carrier flynas firms up order for 25 more Airbus jets, taking total commitments to 235
Riyadh-based flynas currently operates a fleet of 67 Airbus aircraft, comprising two A330-300s, four A320ceos and 61 A320neos. The airline has now confirmed an additional order for 25 Airbus aircraft — 20 A321neos and five A330-900s (A330neos) — as it expands its network to meet rising demand for air travel in Saudi Arabia and beyond.
The deal raises flynas’ total firm orders with Airbus to 235 aircraft. It builds on the original agreement signed at the Farnborough International Airshow in 2024 for 75 A320neo-family jets and 15 A330-900s.
Bander Almohanna, chief executive officer and managing director of flynas, described the enlarged order as supporting the “sustainable growth” of the carrier’s fleet. He said it would underpin the continued expansion of the airline’s six operating bases across the Kingdom while strengthening operational and expansion capabilities for flynas Syria.
Flynas Syria is a new low-cost subsidiary being established through a joint venture under a multibillion-dollar investment agreement between Syria and Saudi Arabia. The carrier will be 51% owned by the Syrian General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) and Air Transport, and 49% by flynas. Operations are scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026, aimed at improving air connections to Syria following the fall of the Assad regime in 2024.

The A321neo, the largest member of the A320neo family, offers higher capacity, improved fuel efficiency and greater range, delivering at least a 20% reduction in fuel consumption compared with previous-generation aircraft. It is well suited to regional and medium-haul routes.
The A330-900, powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, is Airbus’ latest-generation widebody with a range of up to 8,100 nm (15,000 km). It is designed to cut fuel burn, CO₂ emissions and operating costs by around 25% relative to earlier models. Flynas’ new A330-900s are expected to feature a two-class cabin seating up to 400 passengers.
