Alaska Airlines advances global expansion with launch of new European routes and landmark lounge investment | aviationbizz.com
Alaska Airlines has taken a major step in its international growth strategy by launching new European routes and announcing a significant investment in premium airport infrastructure.
The airline has officially begun daily nonstop service between Seattle and London Heathrow, marking a key milestone in its expansion into the transatlantic market.
This new London route follows the recent launch of Alaska’s first-ever nonstop service to Rome, with another European destination, Reykjavík, set to begin operations shortly. These additions strengthen Alaska Airlines’ presence in Europe and enhance connectivity between the U.S. West Coast and major international destinations.
Alongside route expansion, the airline has announced plans for a landmark, world-class lounge at Seattle–Tacoma International Airport. Scheduled to open in late 2027, the new lounge will span over 41,000 square feet across two levels, offering premium amenities such as dining, showers, and exclusive spaces for long-haul international travelers.
This expansion is part of Alaska Airlines’ broader strategy to enhance the global travel experience, combining new international routes with upgraded onboard services and lounge facilities. Together, these initiatives position the airline as a growing global carrier connecting passengers to more destinations with improved comfort and connectivity.
